tubes

Our day started bright and early this morning.  I was up and getting ready at 5:30 because we had to be at the surgical center at 7:00 am.  While I was in the shower, Miss Addy was waking up and requesting her favorite food in the whole wide world... pancakes!  It's not easy explaining to an almost 2 year old that she can't eat or drink anything until after we go to the doctor.

Adalynn was in good spirits when we got there.  She was coloring and playing in the waiting room.



When they called us back, the nurse explained what all would be happening.  She gave us a gown to put her in, and told us she would be right back with "princess juice."  She was referring to a little bit of liquid Versed to help relax Miss Addy.  When our little lady heard "princess juice" her little face lit up.  Our girl loves princesses! 

From that moment on, everything was princess!  She put on a princess gown...

When they came to take her back, Adalynn was not a happy camper!  She was having a perfectly good time playing princess with mommy and daddy in the little room, and did not want to leave us!  We heard her screaming the whole time we were walking out to the waiting room.  :(

The procedure was super fast.  10-15 min. tops.  The doctor came out and said everything went great.  Both ears had tons of fluid in them.  He was laughing about how unhappy she was about going back to the procedure room and let EVERYONE know it!  Yep, that's my girl!  :)  A true princess at heart!

We went back to the recovery room, and saw a nurse trying to rock Addy while she was literally screaming at the top of her lungs and struggling to get loose.  Poor baby.  We were told to expect this.  She cried (more like screamed) the whole way home.  I talked to my mom about it and she said that's just how some kids react to anesthesia.

Once we got home, and Addy calmed down a little, we ate pancakes in bed and watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  If anything can make our gal feel better, it's pancakes and Mickey Mouse.  :)

I kept thinking she would fall asleep, but she stayed up another hour and a half or so crying off and on.  Poor baby.  :(

She finally took a nap for a little over 2 hours and is now back to her old self! 

We are so thankful everything went well today and are glad to get these tubes under our belt.  Hopefully Addy's little ears stay clear!

I wanted to say a special thanks to my wonderful partner, Brittney for working today so I could stay home and take care of my girl!!!

happy mother's day!!!

We had a great Mother's Day weekend and hope you all did too!

Last night, we went to a cookout at Nathan and Kristin's house.

This morning, we went to church, and then met Nick's family for lunch.  After that, we came home for Addy to get in a nap, and then headed up to my parents' house for dinner.

We picked up my Maw-maw on the way up there.  She and Addy were having a grand old time playing and laughing in the backseat.  :)

Mother's day is definitely not about any gifts or anything like that for me, but Addy and Nick had a special surprise for me.... an iPhone!!!  I have been wanting one, but was under contract with my old phone.  Nick actually got me an iPad for my birthday last month too!  Electronics usually aren't my thing, but I must say, I do enjoy the "i" stuff.

I can't believe I went all weekend without getting a pic of me and my gal on Mother's Day.  :(  I'm usually the one taking the pics, but I need to be better about getting ones of us!

This post is a little random and all over the place, but I wanted to share some thoughts mother's day...

I am so, so thankful for my amazing mom!  She is literally my best friend, and I don't know what I would do without her.  She is the kindest, most selfless person I know.  Thank you for all you do mom!  I love you!!!

I am also so thankful for all the other moms in my life too.  I have two amazing grandmothers and a wonderful mother-in-law.  God has blessed me so much with such strong. amazing women.  I am so grateful.

Speaking of grateful...

Words cannot express how thankful I am that God has chosen me to be Adalynn's mom.  I love everything about my girl, and try my very best everyday to be the best momma I can to her.

On a slightly different note... tomorrow is tube day!  We are praying that everything goes smoothly and Adalynn tolerates the procedure (and the rest of the day after) well.

Hopefully I will get a chance to update tomorrow!

I am loving this song right now! (The Adams' are some country folk!) Something tells me Addy likes it too because we were listening to it in the car today and her sweet little voice kept singing, "Shake it for me!"

         Adalynn enjoys cleaning!  She is pretty good about picking up her toys.  Good news for me!  :)  She loves it when I get out the Swiffer.  She goes around and dusts everything, including the dog!

         The other morning, I was sweeping the kitchen floor when Miss Addy comes busting in and shouts out, "MY TURN!" at the top of her lungs!

playground fun

We live by a school, so we are always good and close to a playground!  When it's not raining (which it feels like it has been forever) we like to take full advantage.  This past Sunday, it was a little overcast, but the temps were nice.  Addy got in some much needed playtime outside!

I cannot believe how big Addy looks in this pic!  Makes her mama a teensy (or more) bit sad! 

A certain someone will be 2 in two weeks!  Where does the time go?

It's probably fair to say that I'm a bit of a "Nervous Nelly."  This playground doesn't have the little swings that hold kids in so I really didn't want her to swing at all.  We don't need any bodily injuries!  :)  But, Adalynn can be quite persuasive.

So.....

I did let her swing, but told her to HOLD ON TIGHT!

Well, that didn't work out so well...

Here's a pic of Addy ALMOST falling and hitting her noggin.  She did not!  I was right there behind her to stop her.  It did almost give me a heart attack though.  That will be the end of the big kid swings for now.  :)

Oh yeah, did I ever mention that even though I technically have one child, I pretty much have 2?  The other being my husband.  :)

Nick is just a big kid at heart.  So yes, he got in some much needed playtime and swing time too.  :)

We could not be more ready for our little lady to get her tubes!  I know she will feel MUCH better afterwards!

Last week, her doctor told me that her poor ears were no longer responding to the antibiotics.  She had been on 3 different ones in 5 or 6 weeks.  So... they had to give her this big ole shot three days in a row!  This was tough.  Especially, getting her in the doctor's the second and third day.  Can't trick our gal, she knew what was coming!  It was especially hard because Nick was in Houston for a business trip for a few days.  I was playing nurse and single mama!  We couldn't be happier to have him back!

The good news is the shot worked and it did clear up those ears.  Finally!

We went to the ENT Friday.  We have a tube date set for a week from today.  There was no question that she was a candidate with all of the trouble she's had with her ears lately.

One thing that I didn't like hearing was that her hearing test showed mild hearing loss (in one ear).  They told me that there's a couple of things that could have been a factor.  For one, she's a toddler, and they don't always do what you want them to do.  So... maybe it wasn't very accurate.  Also, the Dr. said it is more than likely the fluid.  This should be cleared up by the tubes. 

Hopefully her poor ears will stay clear until we get those tubes in.  Can't wait to get our girl back to her old self!

Easter

We kicked off our Easter weekend by going to church with my fam on Good Friday.  I remember looking around (at the whole row we took up), and feeling overwhelmingly blessed.  :)

 

Not to go off on a tangent, but after Friday... Easter weekend didn't go quite as planned.  I've come to learn though that things rarely do.  :)  And that's okay. 

It's just that Addy has been SO sick lately.  I feel like I'm saying this for the 100th time this year.  :( 

I have had her back and forth from the doctor's so many times.  When I had her there last Thursday, her poor ears were red but didn't look awful.  I felt okay about that.  Then, on Saturday, she starts throwing up multiple times and acting really listless (okay, I never use this word, but I didn't know what else to call it.  She didn't want to do anything except be glued to me.  She never does this).  This scared me.

 

She perked up a little before bed, and I felt better about that.  We had planned to go to church early on Easter Sunday, but Miss Addy slept in until 9:45!  This must mean my poor child isn't feeling well because this NEVER happens.  Since we knew she didn't feel well, we didn't dare wake her.  She needed her rest.

 

When she did wake up, we saw that the Easter bunny had visited us!  This seemed to make Miss Addy cheer up a bit.

Addy was definitely a happy little gal as she went through all of her goodies.

Some of her goodies included new Princess and Mickey books and those blocks with letter and numbers.  I guess that bunny must have heard that our gal has learned to count to 10.  Guess he thought it would be fun to ID some of those numbers.  :)

 

We headed to Nick's grandparents' house in Sherperdsville.  On the way there, poor Addy threw up all.over.the.car.  :(

Nick pulled a Nascar maneuver into the "Concrete Lady" in Clarksville.  You know that place with all the concrete lawn decor?  lol

 

After we changed our poor gal and scrubbed the backseat as much as we could with baby wipes, Addy would not go back in her car seat.  So... we walked around to check out all the scenery.  They were actually open on Easter.  This perked Addy up.  I'm pretty sure she wants a concrete horsie for our front yard.  :)

Even though we knew Adalynn didn't feel well, she seemed to be a little better by the time we made it back in the car.  We decided to go ahead and try for a quick visit.  While there, she was a momma and Mee-maw's girl the whole time. 

Her little ears perked up when she heard talks of an egg hunt.  So she did get to do that for a few minutes.

There are horses behind Grandma and Grandpa Adams' house and Addy had a good time looking at them.

This probably sounds like child abuse, with us having a sick baby girl and all, but we went and visited my family quickly afterwards.  Addy still wasn't quite herself, but did perk up a bit more.  I think she was feeling a tad bit better. 

I will post more about the new developments in our "ear saga" in a bit.
