4 Month Checkup

Today after work, I took Adalynn to the Dr. for her 4 month checkup. She has been 4 months old for a couple of weeks now, but I wanted to be off for a while after I took her because of her shots. Last time, she was pretty fussy.

Here are the stats on our growing girl...

weight: 18 lb 7 oz (off the charts percentile!)
Ok teacher friends, help me out here... does this mean I have the heaviest 4 month old in America? lol

height: 26 in (95th percentile)

head circumference: (95th percentile)

Okay... so picture me going in all defensive ready to hear more about how my baby is "overweight." (At her 2 month checkup, the Dr. told me this). To my surprise the nurse practitioner ( who was super sweet btw) didn't even mention it! She told me she was a healthy (well fed :-) ) baby who is right on track with all of her milestones!

Here's a pic of our "off the charts" bundle of joy waiting patiently for the nurse practitioner! :)

Now here's the sad part... Adalynn's all happy to be there, smiling and talking to everyone, and then she gets 2 shots! She was so upset that anyone could do this to her! I'm talking major breakdown! She couldn't even catch her breath she was crying so hard! For a while, no sound was coming out! Thankfully she recovered quickly and took a nap on the car ride home. Daddy and I may possibly have a drama queen on our hands someday... :)
We are definitely blessed to have such a healthy, happy baby girl!

Family Fun

I know it's a little late to be telling you about our weekend, but we had a great one! On Saturday, Nick, Adalynn. and I went shopping. We found some adorable fall outfits for Adalynn! Then, on Sunday, we dressed our gal up in one of those adorable outfits and headed out to a couple of family get-togethers.

Here she is all decked out...

I know it's hard to tell, but it's a tutu dress with leggings! It really is adorable when it's not all squished up in a car seat. Plus, the bib kinda ruins it, but she has been a little drool monster lately. Mommy thinks a tooth is definitely in our near future!

First, we went to Mike Linnigs (sp?) with Nick's family. Sitting outside and eating in the fall weather was really nice. Then we went to my grandma's house (mamaw) to celebrate my Papaw Whitis' birthday. Here's a pic of the birthday boy! :)

I love my grandparents! :)
So that was our fun-filled family weekend. Sorry it's late, but I've been a working girl lately. I'm off for a whole week though as of today! WOO HOO!!!

Our Two Girls!

Adalynn's not the only one who likes her activity mat around here!
BTW...Addy smiles all the time, but for some reason will not for the camera! :)

Fun at Grandma and Grandpa's

Tonight we braved the nasty weather and headed to Nick's parents for dinner. Adalynn likes playing in the exersaucer her grandma bought for her and her cousin, Oliver.

As you can see, the poor girl is pantsless! I had to take them off because the elastic was too tight on her belly. That was a 6-9 month outfit! Not sure what we're going to clothe our child in, but mommy loves her bare little legs anyway!

Reading with Mommy

One of our favorite things to do is cuddle on the glider. Adalynn likes laying on the boppy while we glide. Here are some pics of us reading together! I know this sounds silly, but she has a pretty good attention span for a 4 month old! :) I hope she develops a love for reading! You can never start too early right?

Then and Now

1 week old

4 months old

Addy is taking up a little more room on daddy's chest these days! She loves her daddy! Of course, he is head over heels for her! I love watching the two of them together. They have such a special bond!

Family Reunion & 4 months old!

Today was the annual Caudill Cousin Campout at Brown County. This is the family reunion that my grandma's (mamaw's) side of the family has every year. It was so fun to see everyone and show off our girl. Plus, the weather was GORGEOUS! I was especially happy to see my Aunt Gerrie who is my grandma's sister and my Godmother. Very happy to hear she is enjoying the blog! Love you Aunt Gerrie! :)

Sadly, I left my camera at home today! :( So I don't have any pictures to share of the reunion. I did snap some cute shots with my mom's camera so I will get those up as soon as I get them. I love Brown County! One day this fall I want to go walk around all of the neat little shops.

It's hard to believe that Little Miss Adalynn turned 4 months old yesterday! I know I keep saying this, but time truly does fly when you have a little one. We love seeing her grow and develop, but it makes her mommy a little sad at the same time. I'm sure all mothers feel the same way.

Here are some fun facts about our little 4 month old:

~She LOVES being kissed on, cuddled, talked to, sang to, and rocked. She is a very cuddly baby!
~Her favorite toy right now is a Baby Einstein caterpillar rattle.
~She is rolling from back to tummy (still no tummy to back yet)
~She is busting out of all of her 6 month clothes!
~She thinks it's funny to blow raspberries in her rice cereal and make it fly everywhere.
~She is in size 2 diapers but ready to move on to 3's (mommy is sad about this because I love
Pampers Swaddlers and they only go up to size 2! )
~She loves when her daddy wears her around in the Baby Bjourn.
~She likes when we read her a book called I Know my Mommy Loves Me because she likes the
shiny metallic looking pictures
~She is a very light sleeper.
~She is a very happy, lovable baby and she has mommy and daddy wrapped around her finger!
(not to mention all of the grandparents and great grandparents!)

Rolling Over

Adalynn rolled over for the first time yesterday! She went from her back to her tummy. Typically babies roll for their tummy to back first, but Adalynn likes to do things her own way! :) It's probably because she has always disliked tummy time so never spent too much time on her tummy.

The sad part is, mommy was at work when she rolled over! I was so upset to have missed this. Nick's mom said she was doing it like an old pro! She had no idea it was the first time she had done it! Haha! Adalynn did do it for me 3 times though after I got home. Being a working mom definitely has its pit falls! Although, I am still very blessed to only be working parttime!

Now that she's rolling over, I have decided have her sleep in her crib at night. I know it's crazy! She's almost 4 months old and has never slept a night in her crib. This is mainly because mommy loves sleeping with Adalynn right there. She has been up there sleeping for about 30 min. So far, so good!

Things are changing! We cherish all of the precious time we are spending with our Addy cakes and look forward to all of the exciting times to come!

Growing Fast

Today was a sad day here in the Adams' household. I finally did something that I have been wanting to do for a while, but couldn't quite bring myself to do it. I packed up all of the clothes that Adalynn has outgrown. This is the first time I have done this and there was A LOT. I almost got teary eyed looking at all of her little sleepers, dresses, onesies, and outfits that now look so teeny tiny. Thankfully, mommy was able to hold it together. It wasn't easy though! :)

Here is a pic of all of the outgrown clothes.

My ironing board was overtaken! Sadly, some things still had the tags on them. She did wear most it, but not anything for too long. They grow so fast! I can't believe how much our little girl has changed already!

Mommy tried not to get too sad though because, who knows!?! Maybe Adalynn will get a little sister someday to share all of her adorable little hand-me-downs with! :)

Yummy in Addy's Tummy!

We've hit another milestone! Adalynn is now eating rice cereal mixed with breast milk before she goes to bed at night. I decided to start this a little early. She's 3 1/2 months and I think people usually do this around 4 months. She weighs around 16 1/2 pounds now and is wanting to nurse 2 times throughout the night. I thought maybe straight breast milk was not enough to satisfy her now that she is getting a little bigger. I'm hoping she'll start sleeping through the night again since she might feel a little fuller. So far, no luck though.
Mommy wasn't too surprised to find out that Addy LOVES eating her rice cereal. I mashed a couple slices of banana up in it to make it extra yummy! Here are some pictures of her first big girl feeding that took place in my parents' hotel room in St. Louis. She had a little audience because everyone wanted to see her take her first bites! :)

Weekend Getaway!

Over the long Labor Day weekend, we took our first family trip since Adalynn has joined has joined our family! We went to St. Louis with Nana, Opa, Jenna, Mike, and baby Will! We had a lot of fun and Adalynn was SUCH a good little girl!

The first thing we did was tour the Anheiser Busch factory. Of course, this was Nick's favorite part! :)

Waiting for our tour! I LOVE this picture! Her face cracks me up!

She loves riding around on daddy!

See the Clydesdale in the background?
Mike, Jenna, and Will
Brr... it was cold where they stored the beer.
The next day, we went to Grant's Farm. It is this really neat place where Ulysses S. Grant used to live. They had a zoo and all kinds of animals!
The goats were more interested in Adalynn than she was in them! Don't worry, mommy didn't let them get too close!
Uncle Mikey with a goat.
Kangaroo!
Huge turtle!
Tram ride!
The arch!
Family photo on top of the arch!
We had a great trip! Can't wait to go on more family getaways!
