Sleepless in Jeffersonville

Yesterday, I took Adalynn to the Dr. to get the first dose of the H1N1 vaccine. I was nervous about getting it for her, but in the end, decided it was better for her to get the vaccine than H1N1. Anyway, she was up almost every 30 minutes last night! I guess this is from the shot. She doesn't really do well with vaccines. So, now we have one crabby baby and a sleepy mommy. Hmm... looks like we may not be up tonight to ring in the new year! Right now, being fast asleep in bed sounds pretty good!

Two Years

I can't believe it's been two years ago today that my wonderful husband and I said "I do." It's been an amazing journey so far, and we have been blessed beyond measure!

Our wedding was the second best day of my life! The first, of course, being when our beautiful daughter was born. I couldn't help but to add a few pictures from December 28, 2007.

Can't wait to see what's in store for the future, but loving every moment of today!

Christmas Fun!

We had such a wonderful Christmas! It's amazing how Adalynn makes our lives so much better! :)

We had 4 different Christmas celebrations to go to! On Christmas Eve, we went to Nick's mom and dad's to celebrate with the Adams'. Then we were off to my Gran's that evening to spend time with my family.

On Christmas morning, we were so thrilled to open Adalynn's presents with her. Here are some pics of our baby's first Christmas morning! (Please note: mommy looks a little rough in the morning!) :)

She loved the bows!
"Hello? Anyone there?"

Ohhh... Elmo!

"What is it daddy?"
"A hooded towel! Just what I've always wanted!" :)

After opening presents from Santa, we went up to my mom and dad's for a delicious breakfast. Nick made his yummy monkey bread! Then, we went to my Mawmaw's for lunch.
Then, we went back to Nick's mom's to celebrate with the other side of his family.

Here's Will! He might be crawling before Adalynn! :)

Uncle Nathan and Aunt Kristin got Addy a really cool toy!

Ho ho ho!

We had a wonderful Christmas and hope you did too! Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2010!

7 Months Old!?!?

It doesn't seem possible, but Adalynn turned 7 months old on Friday! Unfortunately, she's been fighting a cold and just got some vaccinations on Tuesday. So... we've been seeing a lot of grouchy faces lately.

Poor thing, you can tell by her little eyes that she just hasn't been feeling up to par.

That's a little better.

Thankfully, she seems to be doing much better the past couple of days. She's been a little happy buns lately.

Here's whats new with our girl...

*She weighs 21 lb 3 oz and is 28 in long!
*Eating 3 meals of baby food a day.
*Still loves bananas!
*Also likes vanilla apple mixed grain.
*Peaches and sweet potatoes are a no no! They upset her tummy!
*Still no teeth! :)
*Getting very good at sitting!
*Wearing size 4 diapers.
*Clothing her is a challenge. We joke that we need to get her clothes altered because she could really stand size 18 months (and does wear several things in that size), but a lot of times they are too long. So she is mostly wearing size 12 month right now.
*Loves the theme song to Sesame Street. She squeals when it comes on!
*She LOVES Elmo! I think because he is red and has a high pitched voice. Santa may be bringing some Elmo things!
*She is so happy and sweet, but also very thoughtful. She has her thinking face on a lot.
*She has started giving us kisses. I don't really know if she knows what she's doing though. She just presses her mouth up against our face and leaves it there for a while! Too cute!

She is definitely the greatest little blessing of all!

Cookie Baking Extravaganza!!!

My little brother, Mikey spent the night last night! We had a full day of baking ahead of us today. He's a great little helper. We had fun listening to Christmas music and decorating. Adalynn had fun watching us and was very curious about what we were doing. She was a very good little girl.

On the menu was sugar cookies, reese peanut butter cup cookies, and no bakes.

Here's Mikey putting his artistic flair on the sugar cookies. I wanted to roll out the dough and use cookie cutters, but didn't know if Adalynn would give us enough time for all that. We took the easy way out and just rolled up balls. They still look cute though (and taste very yummy!)

I love no bakes!

Even Adalynn got in on the decorating action! Here she is holding 2 paint brushes!
We had fun and now have a very large amount of cookies! I'm thankful that the kitchen is now cleaned up and Addy is napping! Time for mommy to relax! :)

Bill-bo

Adalynn has definitely started showing favoritism for some toys over others. Her absolute favorite is one we call Bill-bo. Her daddy started calling it that and it stuck. My mom's friend (and our friend too!), Juli, gave it to Adalynn. It's a hand-me-down from her boys. Here are some pictures of Addy and Bill-bo!

As you can see, he's quite an interesting looking little guy. We think he's supposed to be a bird??? I think that's where Nick got the "Bill" part.
Everywhere Addy goes, Bill-bo goes too! We've been cracking up lately because that thing is clinched in her hand from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed. She even falls asleep holding onto him. :)
I don't know if Santa can bring anything that will top Bill-bo!!! It's too funny that out of everything we have bought for her, a hand-me-down will be her fav! :)

It's been a crazy weekend in the Adams' household!

The craziness started Friday night. I was putting laundry away upstairs and Nick was playing with Adalynn downstairs. All of the sudden she started screaming and we couldn't really calm her down. Her daddy is always very good about being gentle with her when they play, but he thought he maybe accidentally hurt her arm when he was lifting her. I noticed that she was holding her left arm funny, and she wasn't reaching for anything with that arm. I gave her some Motrin and we headed for Kosair Children's Hospital.

We were worried that we would have to wait a long time. Surprisingly, they called us back about 5 minutes after we checked in. She had calmed down in the car (thank goodness because we got stuck in traffic). We even wondered if we really needed to be there because she was smiling and laughing at the women working at the front desk. When we took her out of her car seat to get her weighed, she started wailing again and still holding her arm funny.

Our girl weighed 21 lbs 3 oz. Wow! The triage nurse thought that she had something called nursemaid's elbow. She said it's a very quick fix and she would be fine 2 seconds after they put it back into place. I was glad it was something easy, but the thought of them jerking her arm around back into place terrified me!

We were taken to a room (which was basically a bed in the hallway with a curtain). We were given a little yellow gown to put on her. She was not a fan of having her clothes changed. Her dad and I joked that if they knew how loud her cry was, they would have given us our own room. She was disturbing the baby next to us and causing her to cry.

The nurse came in and moved her arm back and forth a couple of times. She cried a little then stopped as soon as she was finished. While we were waiting for the doctor, Adalynn began playing with both arms as if nothing had ever happened. She was back to her normal, happy, playful self!

The doctor was very nice and confirmed that she had nursemaid's elbow, the tendon had been pulled or stretched out of place, but was now back into place. He said some babies and children are very prone to it. Especially a 21 pound almost 7 month old. :) We just have to be extra careful now because after it's happened once, it could easily happen again.

So that was our Friday night excitement. Needless to say, Nick felt absolutely awful! We were both thankful though because we were in and out in 2 hours and Adalynn left perfectly fine.

To top it all off, Adalynn had a little bit of a runny nose Friday, but Saturday, it turned into a full blown cold! Her nose is sooo stuffy. I feel awful because there's not much you can do for a little baby with a cold. We've been running a humidifier non-stop. Mommy and daddy have also caught it so we've all been trying to rest and get healthy. I'm hoping by tomorrow, Addy will feel better. She goes to the Dr. for a checkup.

I'll let you know how that goes!

Ollie and Me

Today we watched our nephew, Oliver, for a few hours. Oliver and Adalynn just love each other. They get into "baby stare downs" which are hilarious to watch.

Adalynn kept rubbing Ollie's head and touching his little hands. So cute! Oliver is going to be 10 months old on Dec. 23rd. He is getting to be such a big boy! He is definitely a little cutie!

We loved having him spend some time with us! Addy enjoyed it too. She is lucky to have two cousins that are so close to her age!

Bubble Girl

We had some fun today with bubbles. Adalynn was completely amazed by them! I can't believe how quickly her motor skills are developing. She was even able to pop a few! :)

Notice how she is holding a red ball? She kept looking at the bubbles then looking at the ball. It's like she was thinking, "These things are similar but those one things keep disappearing!" We are amazed by her everyday! She is learning so many things and soaking everything up!
