rub-a-dub-dub

Rub-a-dub-dub, Addy loves the tub!

Had to share some pictures of one of Adalynn's favorite times of the day- bath time.

I've waited all day for my bath! Woohoo!

Look at me!

Gotta get every part squeaky clean!

I LOVE this picture! Check out those ROLLS!!! :)

Getting all warm and cozy!

That was fun mom! Let's do it again tomorrow!

baby food

My absolute favorite aisle in the grocery store is the one with the baby food! I can't explain it, but for some reason, I can spend a lot of time there looking at all of that stuff. Adalynn and I took a trip to the baby food aisle today and found some new things to try. Our cabinet is already stocked, but I'm always trying to offer her new things. Like anyone, she has things she likes and things she doesn't like. I can get her to eat almost any fruit. The problem is, the only vegetable she will eat is carrots. (Kind of a problem!) :) So I'm kind of on a quest to find vegetables or things with vegetables in it that she will eat.

For blogging purposes, I took a picture of our baby food cabinet to show you the amount of stuff we're dealing with here. It's 3 rows deep!

The funny part is, we have all of that baby food, but she only eats a few choice things. Oh well! I keep trying! I could possibly be a baby food hoarder. :)

One of the things we picked up today was macaroni and cheese with vegetables. Let's just say, she was not a fan. She was giving me some crazy looks! I even took a little taste and quickly found out why she was giving me that look! It was really gross!

Hopefully we found some things she will eat! I hope she's not picky, but right now, it's kind of looking that way. She's always kind of been strong willed so I wouldn't be surprised. :)

Well, there's my totally random post about baby food. Hopefully you didn't find it too... what's the word... uneventful. :) It was just something I wanted to remember about this point in our lives! :) I know it's someting I will miss buying one day.

Go Colts!!!

It's no secret that the Adams' are some pretty big Colts fans. Even the littlest Adams herself can't help but get in on the action. Here she is sporting daddy's hat. She was gearing up for Sunday's game. We are sooo excited to see our boys going to the Superbowl again! It's sure to be an exciting game!

This picture cracks me up!

Surprise face! "Did we just win the AFC championship?"

GO COLTS!!!

Buh-bye!

Adalynn waved and said bye bye at the same time today! Unfortunately, I was at work, so I didn't see it. :( She was staying at her Gran and Pa-paw's (my grandparents'). She loves them! My grandpa was leaving to run to the store. He was telling her bye, and she waved and said bye bye as clear as day. This is pretty amazing because I have never seen her wave or say bye bye. So to do both of those things at the same time for the first time... Can we say genius!?! :) There were three witnesses to this amazing event. My grandma, grandpa, and little brother, Mikey. I'm sad I wasn't there to see it, but I'm sure I will soon.

A Day in the Life...

We've had a pretty interesting morning so far, and it's only 10:38 am... To start off with, Adalynn woke up at 4:30 this morning ready to start her day. I wasn't even close to being ready to start my day that early, so she laid there and babbled until about 5:30. She then went back to sleep, waking up again at 6:00! She must have had something exciting planned this morning.

I was supposed to drop our dog, Brinklee, off at the groomer at 9:00am, but didn't get her there until about 9:20. Oops! This groomer we went to is not the one we usually use. It's really close to our house so it was more convenient to take her there. It's only the second time we've been there. I wasn't crazy about them the first time, and let's just say that after today, we won't be going back. I had a little dilemma after pulling in. How am I going to get the dog and the baby in there? Addy weighs 22lbs plus the weight of her baby carrier. Not exactly a light load. So, I pulled right up to the door and locked the car doors, leaving her in the car. I knew I would only be a few seconds. Well, when I walked in, the lady said it would be just a minute. I politely told her I would wait outside so I could keep an eye on my car with my precious cargo in it (It was only about 10 feet from where I was standing.) I saw that she was ready for me, so I walked back in, but kind of left the door propped open with my foot. I don't know why, for some reason the door being propped made me feel even closer to her. I mean, I only needed to hand her my dog and walk out. The lady then yelled at me, yes YELLED, to shut the door. Saying it was too cold to leave it open. Has she ever heard of asking nicely? I guess not. I felt like leaving with my dog right then and taking her somewhere else. I did end up leaving Brinklee with those meanies though. Hopefully they're treating her well. When I go pick her up later on today, I will be taking Addy in with me to avoid anymore unneeded stress or worry. This whole ordeal lasted only about 3 or 4 minutes but felt like an eternity to a frazzled, worried mother.

After leaving the groomers, we went to the YMCA. Adalynn was fine when I dropped her off at the childcare, but by the time I walked upstairs and looked through the glass into the playroom, she was sitting in an exersaucer crying. Not just crying, she was doing her "scream" cry. Red face, crocodile tears, the whole nine yards. The lady picked her up and walked her around for a minute or two. I was hoping this would calm her down, but it did not. I decided that working out wasn't going to happen for me this morning, so I walked downstairs to get her. The workers were visibly relieved when I walked in. :) Addy was too. She immediately quit crying as soon as I held her. Stinker...

I was a little worried about taking her today, because yesterday, Nick was only able to work out for about 30 minutes before having to go get her. Although I can't say I blame the girl. She's only been with her parents or watched by her grandmas and great-grandmas her whole life, and she's right at the age stranger anxiety is setting in. They told me to keep trying today at the Y... For now it seems like the only workout I'll be doing is something Addy and I can do together. Guess we'll have to take up mall walking. :)

Right now our little angel :) is laying on the floor, chewing on her feet, and watching Sesame Street. Happy as can be to be home with her mommy.

With all that being said (hope I didn't come across as ranting), I wouldn't change a thing. Especially with everything going on in the world today, I am fully aware how blessed we are. In the grand scheme of things, my little "problems" aren't problems at all. They are blessings. As I watch the news and see all of the suffering, I am know that I can only be thankful for all that God has given us, and pray for those who need His healing.

So that's a day in the life of a partially stay at home mom and her precious 8 month old girl who makes it quite clear what she wants. I'd say she's the one training us...

8 Months Old

My baby is 8 months old tomorrow! I can't believe it. Where is the time going?

We have hit some milestones this month!

*Just yesterday, Adalynn had her first "non-family member babysitting experience." Nick and I joined the YMCA, and dropped her off in the playroom for about 50 minutes. She did a nice job. Even though she was being held when we went in to pick her up. The lady working said she was fine though. We like to go to the New Albany Y because you can look through the glass and see your child while you're working out. It's pretty neat. I'm trying to lose some of this baby weight I still have! :)

*Adalynn says mama and dada. She imitates us when we say it. I don't know that she 100% knows for sure what she's saying, but I like to think so. She was also trying to say doggy the other day.

*While she is still not crawling, she is getting pretty darn close. She rocks on all fours and scoots backwards. She has also started rolling multiple times to get to something she wants.

*Still no teeth! This is especially funny because I've been blaming every bout of fussiness on teething for months now. My mom did say that I didn't get teeth until I was 9 months old though.

*Bath time is one of her favorite times of the day. She loves sitting in her tub and playing with her toys. My mom got her these really cool little floaty toys that light up. She enjoys her bath so much that she usually cries when it's time for me to take her out. :(

*Sleeping has become a little bit of an issue that I'll post about later. In most cases, it seems like babies sleep better as they get older. My little one is kind of going in the opposite direction. She is up almost every 3 hours. She wants to nurse quickly and then fall right back asleep. Not fun for mom!

One thing is for sure though, we love our little princess and are amazed by her everyday!

Fairy Godmother

We recently spent some quality time with Adalynn's Godmother (and my best friend), Staci! We had some fun shopping together. Staci is living in Chicago working on her master's degree, so we aren't able to see her as much as we would like. We really look forward to her visits home. Here are some pictures of the Godmother with her little Goddaughter.

As you might be able to tell, Adalynn has been very interested in glasses lately. She has put several scratches on my face trying to yank them off. :)

1st Post of 2010 and Play Date

Wow! I've been a bad blogger lately! Usually, I get a little behind when things are busy, but then again, I did have 2 snow days last week. Addy has been a little more, ummm let's say, "hands-on" lately. The girl does not want to be put down!
I did want to share some pictures from a play date Addy and I had over Christmas Break. My friend, Amanda, invited us over for some delicious brunch and girl time. I used to teach with Amanda at Utica. She is a mother of two. Raegan, who is 4, and Julia who was born just a few days after Adalynn. Both her girls are cute as can be. Here are some pics of the new BFF's.
It was so fun to watch them play and interact with one another. Even though they are so close in age, you may notice a little bit of a size difference. They are on two opposite ends of the spectrum as far as percentiles go. :)
We had a lot of fun. Can't wait to see them again!
Addy got a couple of toy phones for Christmas and I'm always saying, "Call your friend Julia." or "Addy, Julia is on the phone for you." Mommies can be quite silly sometimes. :)
