her mother's daughter

I cannot deny my child. She is definitely me made over. Well, she looks a little more like her dad, but she acts just like I did when I was her age. That might not be such a good thing. We have always struggled with "crib" issues with Adalynn. The girl acts like she's in a baby jail when we put her in it. I did not sleep in my crib until my sister came along. Something else not so fun that we've been dealing with the past two days is that Adalynn has been getting really upset when she's in her car seat. It's usually due to her being tired. She has been screaming at the top of her lungs. It's actually more like a shriek. She has gotten herself so upset that she's thrown up twice in her car seat. Just from crying so hard. This is something else I guess she got from me because my mom said it was not uncommon for me to do this when I was little either. Having Addy has really made me appreciate all my parents did for me! It's not easy for sure! That being said. it is so worth it though!

wicked

So... I am one very lucky girl. My hubby had this big mother's day surprise for me. Unfortunately, I discovered it early. He says it's because I was snooping, but I really had no idea anything was up. He got us tickets to go see Wicked this Friday!!! I'm so excited! I love musicals, and this one is supposed to be the best. I found the order online so he went ahead and told me. He had my mom lined up to babysit, and was going to reschedule Addy's 12 month pictures because they were on that same evening. Do I have a good husband or what? Can't wait til we go! I'll let ya know how it is!

birthday girl photo shoot

Here are a few of the pictures we took a couple of weeks ago to go on her birthday invitations. We had quite a few because I wanted a lot to choose from. I thought they turned out pretty cute!

Addy is thinking, "What in the world does my mommy have me in?"

Pat-a-caking

Wow! Look at that big cheese!

Big girl!

"I've had enough of this! Watch me go mom and dad!"

I think only the bottom pic made the "cut" for the invitation, but I'm glad we got all of these. We go to her "real" 12 month photo shoot at Click in a couple of weeks.

Someone needs to pinch me because I cannot believe our girl is going to be 1! I used to think people were just saying that when they talked about how fast kids grow up. Now I know it is SO true! It's like someone hits a fast forward button on your life after you have a baby. I mean, April is almost over!

CRAWLING!!!

Houston... we have a crawler!!! I don't know why, but that Apollo 13 quote keeps popping in my head when I think about her crawling. :) So... she's actually been crawling for a couple of weeks. I've just been a bad blogger. She has sure been keeping us busy around here! Once they start, they don't stop I guess. We've had fun chasing her around though. She actually seems so much happier since she can be a little more independent and go out and explore on her own.

Here are some other happenings....

1) Addy Cakers has 4 teeth! 2 on top and 2 on bottom.
2) She turned 11 months old on the 18th! I can't believe she will be 1 in less than a month!
3) She babbles up a storm. I joke that she talks German. The girl can talk your ear off when
she wants.
4) We hung a Little Tike's swing in our back yard (on a tree) and she has been having a great
time swinging! She actually cries when you take her out!
5) This one she definitely did not get from me because I'm not a fan of grocery shopping. Her
Grandma Adams (who keeps her one day a week while mommy is with her 2nd graders) has
this VTECH grocery shopping cart. She pushes that thing like a pro. She has even starting
bending over, picking things up off the floor, and putting them in her cart. One of the cutest
things I've ever seen if I do say so myself! :)

I do have some pics to post, but will have to do that a little bit later. My girl just woke up from a way too short nap, and I have to go catch her!

zoo adventure

On Saturday, Nick, Adalynn, and I headed to the zoo to enjoy the gorgeous weather. This was Adalynn's second trip to the zoo. We went a couple of weeks ago with Jenna and Will. We were excited for Nick to come this time! He said he could not even remember the last time he was at the zoo. It was when he was very young though! A lot of people had the same idea we did because it was packed! We had a great time.

Ready to go see the animals!

I love penguins!

Every time I've ever seen the lions, they are just laying there! Lazy lions!

The elephants were doing some tricks.

Happy zoo baby!
We look forward to more zoo adventures this summer!

birthday invitations

I am planning on having Addy's birthday party on Sunday, May 16th. I'm getting ready to order these invites. Aren't they too stinkin cute?

I better get busy! We are about 5 weeks out!

Easter recap

Although it's about a week late, we had a great Easter weekend! Saturday, we went to church with my family, and then up to my parents' for dinner. I unfortunately forgot the camera at home! Oops! So I don't have any pictures from my side of the family get together. We had a great time though!
On Sunday, we woke up to find we had a visit from the Easter Bunny! Adalynn's favorite thing was taking every piece of grass out of her basket! Then we headed to Nick's Grandma's for a late lunch.

Here's our girl checking out the goods in the eggs before daddy and her uncles hid them for the big Easter egg hunt.

It happened! Addy Cakes is now on the move! Her absolute favorite thing to do is walk like this. (holding our hands!) She's pretty good at it too!
Here she is out hunting some eggs!

Bingo!
I think I'll just sit here and play with my basket instead.

Cousin Ollie found lots of eggs!

Adalynn with Grandma Adams! See the resemblance?

On the move with Daddy's little cousin, Bailey. Although you can't even see Bailey. She was the flower girl at our wedding. Can't believe how big she's getting!

Still on the move! This time with Great Grandma Adams.
Our gal is loads of fun these days. Although I will say it's much more exhausting than it used to be. Especially when I'm the only one home to do the walking! We are so excited to see her developing so beautifully. I knew she was just fine! She just likes to take her time doing things. She's still not crawling. Well, not crawling like most babies anyway. She is an army crawler. She uses her fingertips and grabs the carpet to pull herself. She certainly gets where she wants by doing this. It so funny though. She reminds me of a tennis player because she lets out these big dramatic yells while she's doing it. I'll have to take a video!
