bathtime beauty

I just came across some pictures I had taken a few weeks ago that I had forgotten to upload. They were cracking me up, so I wanted to share.

Adalynn was having fun getting all sudsy.

Adalynn's Mawmaw got her this swing for Easter. She has been having so much fun swinging in the backyard. Our little lady LOVES being outside!

Once she starts, she doesn't want to stop! :)

Addy's first birthday party!

Adalynn's 1st birthday was so much fun. Here are some pictures from her special day!

Uncle Jamie and Ollie (don't those two look just alike?) :) Poor Ollie wasn't feeling very well that day.

She even shared with mommy!

"I can't believe you guys are actually letting me do this!"

Addy opening up one of her gifts. A baby doll!

Her daddy and I are just so blessed! I still can't believe my baby is 1! I did get a little emotional on her actual birthday. That's what mommies do though, right? :)

Happy 1st Birthday Adalynn Grace!

We celebrated our precious baby girl's 1st birthday today! We had her party on Sunday, and then another little family get together tonight. We have had so much fun over the past few days. I can't wait to share pictures. I tried to upload some just now, but my Internet connection is deciding to not cooperate. It did let me upload the one below though. I have the next few days off after tomorrow so I will be sure to post them soon.

Happy 1st birthday Adalynn Grace! Mommy and daddy love you so very much. Keep smiling that beautiful smile, baby girl!

poor baby

My poor baby is sick! She has been congested ever since last Monday. I thought it was just a pesky cold that wouldn't go away, but then she started running a fever. She was still her normal, happy self. Although she was sleeping a little more than usual. I regretted not taking her to the Dr. on Saturday. We had to wait until Monday to go. I was convinced she had an ear infection because she started getting super cranky. Especially right before bedtime. On Monday, she was so clingy, I couldn't even get us ready to go to the Dr. Needless to say, we rolled into her pediatrician looking pretty scary.

The Dr. looked in her ears and said both looked great. Then, she looked in her throat and let me take a look. It was all red and swollen and had these blister-like sores all inside. My poor baby! She even had a couple of teeny tiny red bumps around her mouth that I hadn't even noticed until the Dr. pointed them out. She said she had a virus called herpangina. Weird name, I know. It's not related to the herpes virus though, I googled it. :) Anyway, since it's a virus, they couldn't do anything about it. She just said it would clear up on its own and to keep her hydrated. I felt so sad that there was nothing that could be done to help my poor girl feel better.

I feel so sorry for her. The Dr. said it causes a lot of pain and decreases appetite. I haven't noticed that so much though. I've been alternating between giving her Tylenol and Motrin to help her with pain. I hope she gets better soon! She does seem to be feeling a little better last night and today, but her rash has spread.

my very first mother's day

Actually, I was technically a mom already last year. My due date was on mother's day. Although that came and went. Addy had plans of her own on when she would be born. This mother's day was much better. I mean, I have an adorable little girl to love on, kiss, cuddle, and play with, and I can see my feet (which is always a plus!) :)

We kicked mother's day weekend off Friday night with our big night out to Wicked. My mom watched Adalynn. We went to dinner at Red Star Tavern (4th Street). It was really good! I was so excited about Wicked, and let me tell ya, it lived up to my expectations! I loved every minute of it. Nick liked it a lot too.

On Saturday, we stayed home and relaxed for most of the day. Okay, okay, I relaxed while Nick did yard work. :) Then, we went to my brother and Kristen's for dinner. Jenna and Will came too.

Today, we got up and went to church. Then, met up with Nick's family for a late lunch. After that, we headed over to my mom and dad's.

I kept thinking to myself today about how blessed I am. I have the most wonderful mother. She is such a perfect role model for me. I also have an amazing mother-in-law, plus two wonderful grandmas. To top it all off, my precious baby girl.

Being a mother to Adalynn this year has given me so much joy and happiness. I actually can't even explain it. She was my missing piece. I love you, Adalynn Grace!

love and logic

So, I've kind of been a bit of a book worm lately. Don't quite know what's gotten into me. Usually I would say that I'm way too busy to read. However, I've been soaking up some good alone time here lately while Addy and daddy are fast asleep. Nick isn't quite the night owl that I am. Anyway, I started reading this book called Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood: Practical Parenting from Birth to Six Years. I'm so excited about this book. I definitely plan on implementing a lot of these tips. Okay, so a lot of the scenarios are a little cheesy, but you just gotta roll with it. Also, it has carried over into how I teach, which I'm really excited about. This is one of the later editions, so it was a little pricey. However, I've heard the earlier editions have even more information, and you can get them for much cheaper. I found a copy for 80 cents on half.com. Anyway, no, the love and logic institute did not hire me as a spokesperson, but I'm a fan, so I wanted to share. :)
