Getting Better

Good news! We had a good night last night. Adalynn slept pretty peacefully, and I didn't hear anymore wheezing! Those breathing treatments really work! This morning, the doctor said she looked and sounded MUCH better. Her oxygen levels are now in the normal range. We will continue the breathing treatment. Plus, the antibiotic will fight off the rest of the infection (and lingering ear infection that she still has!) Nick and I are just so thankful that she is doing better. We will be taking it easy for a few days, and then hopefully our girl will be 100%! Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers!

Crazy Day

Today, Adalynn turned 18 months old! I cannot believe how fast the past year and a half has flown. This is such a fun age!

Unfortunately, her 18 month birthday wasn't the best. For starters, I had a doctor's appointment. Nick was sweet enough to take off work to go with me and my wonderful grandma came to watch Adalynn. I have been dealing with a cyst for a while. It recently became infected and very painful. Unfortunately, it is looking like it may take surgery to remove it. It doesn't sound too major, but may require a day or two in the hospital. It is on my urinary tract. That sounds kind of scary, but hopefully, it's not as bad as it sounds.

After we got home from my appointment, my grandma was very concerned about how bad Adalynn was wheezing. She has had a cough and runny nose for a couple of days, but nothing major. After listening to her for a few minutes, we were worried too. She was really struggling to breathe. Even though she already had a Dr. appointment tomorrow morning for her 18 month check-up, I didn't feel safe waiting. We called and the Dr. told us to come right away.

When we got there, her oxygen levels were low. The nurse practitioner was very concerned about her labored breathing. They put her on a breathing treatment. This was tough. Adalynn was NOT a fan! She fought us and screamed the whole time. That girl is strong! They assured us that it's ok that she's crying. It's just going in deeper.

After her treatment, she was extremely upset still. Her wheezing did clear up a little bit, but got worse a few minutes later. Her oxygen levels were still low. They told us that she would probably be admitted to Kosair. As you can imagine, Nick and I were very concerned.

Dr. Nassim ended up coming in to take a look at her. She said that she was going to go ahead and send us home with a breathing treatment to give every 4 hours and an antibiotic. She said that even though she is very sick, she will be much more comfortable at home and be able to rest more. She wasn't sure yet if she has pneumonia or a bad respiratory infection. Luckily, her RSV test was negative. If her breathing worsens, we will go to Kosair tonight. If everything stays the same, in the morning, we will be going back to the Dr. so they can see how she's doing.

Adalynn is peacefully sleeping next to me on the couch right now. She's all propped up. Her breathing sounds a little better. This momma won't be sleeping tonight because I feel like I can't take my eyes off her. Please pray for our little Addy Cakers. Hopefully, she will make a speedy recovery!

first night away

This past Saturday, Nick and I spent our first night away from Adalynn. He actually had been away several nights for business trips and Air Force duty... it was my first night away from her though. Nick's company had overbooked rooms at the Downtown Marriott for the Breeder's Cup. So... we got a room for free!

My mom and Uncle Mikey came to our house to stay the night with Addy! They had a fun slumber party and Addy didn't seem to miss us too much! She did wake up at 2 am though. Nana said she was wondering where the heck her mommy and daddy were. She fell asleep shortly after.

We had a fun time eating out and spending time together. A big thanks to my mom for coming over! Addy loves you so much! We have another overnight trip planned for our anniversary in December! Yay for grandparents! :)

Halloween

We spent Halloween with Nick's family at his Aunt Kim's house. It was so cool because the next day was Nick's Grandpa Adams' 80th birthday!

Here's the birthday boy blowing out his candles!

Uncle Corey and Addy

Addy went trick-or-treating as Eeyore! My mom's friend, Juli, gave us this adorable costume!

Eeyore and Oliver couldn't wait to get outside and in on the action!

Here we go! All set with our treat bucket!

Happy buns! Eeyore thinks trick-or-treating is so much fun!

Back shot! LOVE IT!

Eeyore did try to make a break for the street a few times!

Don't worry... mommy reigned her back in.

We definitely loaded up on candy! What a fun Halloween!

Halloween Party

My sister, Jenna, hosted a Halloween party at my parents' house on Halloween Eve. We had soooo much fun! We all dressed up, ate great food, and played games. We all decided that this should definitely be an annual event. We took a ton of pics so I picked a few good ones for everyone to look at!

My mom (a witch), my dad (President Bush on the ranch :) ), and my little brother Mikey (Jason)!

*Sidenote, my baby brother is now 12 years old! I know this is what 12-year-olds do, but I got a little sad when he wanted to be something all scary like Jason! I remembered the good old days when he was Woody from Toy Story and Captain Hook. lol!

Mawmaw, Papaw, and Elmo Addy

*Sidenote again... :) my mom found this cute Elmo sleeper, so we decided to put Addy in something comfy for the party.

Uh-oh, the witch and Bush on the ranch fell in love! haha

Elmo Addy snacking

Scary Jason (aka Uncle Mikey)

Nana and Addy

Nana, Elmo Addy, and Cowboy Will!

Ok... so my costume requires some explanation. I found this crazy get-up at Goodwill. We couldn't decide if I looked more like a politician, Red Hats lady, or Sunday school teacher. I said I was a politician for the night (hence the peace sign)!

Nick went as a tourist. Hilarious!

Elmo playing!
So that was our fun, family Halloween party!

first ear infection

Sadly, it's true, Adalynn has her very first ear infection. I guess at 17 months that's not too bad. I know a lot of babies have problems with their ears at an early age. I actually took her to the Dr. Monday after school to get her chest listened to. She has had a cough for about 3 weeks that will not seem to go away. I was worried that it may need to be treated before turning into something worse. She has not really been acting sick at all though, just playing and being sweet as ever. I hadn't even thought about her ear hurting. As soon as Dr. Nassim looked in her right ear, she said it was really red and infected. Poor baby! Her chest sounded good though!

Since I've had her there, I've noticed her shrugging her shoulders and tugging on that ear. She is taking amoxicillin twice a day. Hopefully, it will clear up soon. Nobody likes to know that their baby is in any type of discomfort!

I will be on Thursday or Friday to post Halloween pics! We went to a party Saturday and trick-or-treated Sunday. Addy made for one adorable Eeyore! (If I do say so myself)! :)
