little hands

Adalynn was recently watching Barney and saw the kids on TV tracing their hands. A few minutes later, she was playing with her magnadoodle. She stuck her hand on it, and handed me the pen with a huge grin. She wanted me to trace her hand! She thought that was the greatest thing!

This girl can't get enough of hand tracin'! We do it quite often. :)

Here is a picture that I thought was so sweet. Nick was playing with Addy, and traced his hand, and then hers inside of it.

precious :)

I came across this poem, and thought it was so sweet.

My Little Hands

My little hands play pat-a-cake
They Peek-a-boo and wave

They catch me as I learn to walk
And splash me as I bathe

My little hands reach up to you
For hugs before I sleep

And fold together when I pray
My Lord my soul to keep

My little hands are tiny now
But yours will serve to guide me

And when I'm grown, I'll still reach out
And know you're right beside me.

*tear*

We are cherishing the time we have with Adalynn while her hands are still little! :)

dress up trunk

Nana got Adalynn the sweetest little dress up trunk for Christmas. It's filled with dresses, tutus, dress up shoes, a wand, a purse, and jewelry. What more could a gal want? ;)

We stuck it in the corner of her playroom (spare bedroom), and thought we would bust it out here in a few months when she was more into that sort of thing.

There it is. So cute!

Well, Little Miss Addy has been lovin' that dress up trunk lately. She has a ball rummaging through all of its goodies!

Here she is modeling one of her tutus.

Tutu back shot! Love it! She was showing it off to daddy and Uncle Corey.

Check out those tootsies in the heels!

Lovin' the princess nightgown with the heels! lol

She likes to use her little trunk for a seat too. It's multi-purpose!

It's true... we have a girly girl on her hands. I am loving.every.minute!!!

a girl and her dog

Adalynn and Brinklee have been the best of buds lately. This is a good change because Brinklee actually went into a deep depression after Adalynn was born. It sounds kinda funny, but it was actually pretty sad watching her mope around all the time. Luckily, she snapped out of it before I had to go to the vet and request puppy Prozac! :)

Everywhere Adalynn goes, Brinklee is right there. If she isn't, Adalynn will call, "Buppy!" Her mixture of Brinklee and puppy!

Here's Brinks getting a good belly rub from Addy!

She stays in close proximity.

Tried to get the two to pose. Brinklee was looking at the camera!

Speaking of Brinklee, she turns 7 tomorrow! Can't believe she's already 7! She is such a good dog and we love her to pieces. Is it weird that I know that my dog's exact birthday is January 21st? Hmmm... possibly, but nonetheless, she was our first baby!

And just for fun... here's a pic of Addy taking a picture of me while I was taking a picture of her! :)

Lovin' the snow boots in the house! That girl loves her shoes!

Who doesn't give their camera a big hug after taking a picture? :)

please pray

Hi everyone!

My grandpa is in great need of prayers. He was diagnosed with cancer in and around his left kidney several days ago. He is in ICU at Floyd Memorial Hospital. His doctors think that the cancer is treatable and curable, if they remove his kidney. However, he is much too weak for any type of operation like that at this time. He spends most of the time sleeping, but when he is awake, it is impossible to understand his speech. We are told that this has to do with some type of imbalance that his kidney problems are causing. He is unable to eat, and they are expecting that they will need to put a feeding tube in soon. If at all possible, please remember my grandpa, grandma, and dad in your prayers during this very difficult time for our family. I know that God is watching over them, and has it all under control, but a few extra prayers are greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!

Cara

daddy's work

Friday night, we had to run up to Nick's work to use the fax machine. There were still some people there working, and Addy was kind of running around like a crazy lady! :) So... we sat her up in Nick's desk chair and put some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (via Youtube) on the computer for her to watch. This kept her occupied, and she thought she was big stuff "working on" the computer.

Future CEO one day? :)

going night night

Yesterday morning, Nick was painting our living room (which made a big difference)! So, Adalynn and I were spending some quality time upstairs playing. Her room is probably her favorite part of the house anyway so it didn't bother her.

I was doing something in the other room for a second, and glanced into check on her. This is what I saw! She decided to take a night night with her baby doll!

This is a pic taken on a cell phone, so not the best quality.

Don't those two look comfy? She didn't really fall asleep, but laid there like that for a long time. I turned the lights out, and she got mad when I turned them back on! Our gal has been really into baby dolls lately!

miss thang :)

Adalynn was all decked out for church last night. However, she didn't think her outfit was quite complete without her purse (she's been lovin purses lately). Check out our Little Miss Thang!

She does have quite the fashion sense. I mean, her purse does totally match her outfit!

Now if only she would start leaving bows in.... :)

the three letter word that no one wants to hear...

FLU!

Our poor girl has the flu! I was shocked when her doctor told me that her test came back positive. I took her Friday after her second day of running a fever.

Flu?!? I still can't really believe it. She had a flu shot!

My sweet grandmother (who watches Addy while I work a couple days a week) was feeling sick last Sunday. I hated to still take Addy over there and have her watch her on Monday. A 19-month old can wear a person out when they're sick! However, I didn't have much of a choice. If I took off Monday, I would have been charged for not one, but two days off! Plus, Nick had been off the whole week before that. My grandma assured me that she wanted to watch her, and that it was fine. We just thought she had a cold...

Turned out to be more than a cold. My grandma has been extremely sick for over a week. The kind of sick where you feel too sick to even go to the doctor because you don't want to leave the house. She is finally feeling better. Thank goodness!

Since Addy did have a flu shot, her doctor thought she would probably have a not-so-bad version of the flu. They started her on Tamiflu, but I only gave her that for 2 days because it was giving her some bad side effects. She was having trouble walking without falling over when she was on that. Turns out, dizziness is a big side effect of it. No thank you! That's just sad to put a toddler through!

She has had fevers, congestion, and fussy spells, but still her playful self.

Here's our gal playing with her new vanity she got for Christmas from Grandma.

Yesterday, we thought she was 100% better, but today she seems to not be feeling quite as well. I'm off on a snow day today, which I did not really want, but I am glad to be home with her since she's still a little sick.

Geesh! Poor Addy has had a rough winter as far as sicknesses go! Stay healthy everyone!!!

housewarming

My sister, Mike, and Will recently moved into their first house!!! How exciting! They had a little housewarming par-tay last weekend. I was sure to snap lots of pics!

Addy playing in Will's playhouse (in his room). What a lucky boy! She was trying to get her sweet Maw-maw to come in with her. :)

Uncle Nick and Will playing. Those two LOVE each other!

Check out Mikey in the background!

Silly boys.

We are so excited for Jenna, Mike, and Will. Their new house is super cute!

Christmas Break

We have had a fabulous Christmas break!!! It has been so nice with Nick being off work.

On Tuesday, December 28th, Nick and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary! My parents came over to watch Addy while Nick and I went to one of our favorite places, The Old Spaghetti Factory. We shocked my parents by getting home really early. I think we were still recuperating from Christmas and ready to call it a night!

By Wednesday, we were well rested and ready to get out and do something. Nick, Adalynn, and I took a spur of the moment trip to Cincinnati to stay overnight and visit one of our favorite places, IKEA! If you've ever been to IKEA, you know it's huge. We went Wednesday and Thursday, which was perfect for having a 19 month old. We got to see everything and Addy didn't have to endure it for too long either time. We were excited to get some great buys including a new kitchen table and chairs!

We are sad to see our time off together go. One good thing about us going back to work though is for Addy to get back on a better schedule. This little lady is a night owl and has been staying up late and sleeping in.

Christmas

After leaving my mom and dad's, we headed back over to Nick's parents to celebrate with his mom's side of the family. Nick's Aunt Terry, Uncle Mark, and cousins, Ben and Amelia were in town this Christmas!

Here are some pictures:

Addy playing with her Meemaw!

We had a great time eating and catching up.

Before everyone was getting ready to leave, we all got a little picture happy. We figured that it's not often that the whole gang is together and pictures are priceless right? So here are some pics from our photo shoot:

The whole gang! Minus Terry who was taking the picture.

What a great Christmas!!!

Christmas Morning

We woke up Christmas morning to see that Santa had come and left lots of fun things for Addy! I guess she was an extra good girl!

Daddy and Addy coming down the stairs to see all of the goodies.

The very first thing she went to was a little Minnie Mouse table and chairs.

She then noticed her Schwinn tricycle. She's a little small for this now, but will grow into it.

Mommy and Addy playing with her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse piano book.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse figurines. Our gal has been loving Mickey Mouse lately if you can't tell! :)
We had so much fun opening gifts and spending Christmas morning together. We were sure to remember the true reason for the CHRISTmas season, and have been teaching these things to Miss Addy. She can tell you all about where God lives. We also LOVE when she says Jesus which sounds like "Jejus." Too sweet. At church, they teach her about the Bible in her Toddler's class. She is so sweet about the Bible and seems to almost be in awe of it. She pats it all lovingly. :)
We headed up to my mom and dad's to eat Christmas breakfast with my fam. We had our traditional breakfast of breakfast casserole and monkey bread. YUM!

This was an extra special Christmas for us because Adalynn is at such a fun age. We are so thankful for all of our many blessings!

Christmas Eve

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! It was extra nice because Nick has been off this whole week! We have been taking it easy and enjoying spending time with Little Addy.

Here is a recap of our Christmas Eve:

We headed to Nick's mom and dad's to celebrate with the Adams' in the afternoon.

Grandma A, Addy, and Aunt Leslye

Adalynn received from pots and pans for her kitchen and had a great time cooking with Great Grandpa Adams.

Addy and daddy opening gifts.

Ollie got his favorite! A tractor!

Addy liked his tractor too.

Smile Addy!
That evening, we headed over to my mom and dad's to celebrate with my family. We have kind of gotten into a bad habit. The first place we visit, we seem to get a ton of pics and then slack off on the next place. So... we don't have any pics from Christmas Eve with my family. Don't worry though. We are going to my sister's new house tonight for a chili supper. I will have some pictures from my side of the family. I promise!!! :)

After coming home, we were anxious to see if Santa would visit!
