Memorial Day Weekend (Sunday)

Nick's Grandma and Grandpa Adams invited us to their church this morning for their Memorial Day service.  It was really neat because Nick's grandpa served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.  Nick's brother, Jamie, was also there.  He served in the army and is a veteran of the Iraq War.  Nick served in the Air Force.  His brother, Corey, is also serving in the Air Force, but couldn't make it because he had to work.  I am so thankful for these guys (very proud too!)

Sitting there with all of these people who were willing to give their lives for our country was so touching.

Nick tried to get some pics of Adalynn all dressed up for church this morning, but these days, that's not the easiest task!

Silly girl!

After church, we went back to Nick's grandparents for pizza.  Adalynn couldn't wait to get done eating because she knew she was going to get to go feed their neighbors' horses!  Her great grandma got her all fixed up with a bag of apples and carrots to take.

Love these pics of Addy and daddy walking to the horses!

Here they come!

Adalynn's excited!

So... I am not a person who knows a lot about horses.  Plus, I am a Nervous Nelly.  This made me a tad anxious.  I soon realized that it was alright though, and Adalynn really enjoyed it!  I couldn't bring myself to feed them though.  Crazy, I know!  I tried, but then I looked at Nick and said, "They can sense my fear!"  haha

Here's Miss Addy giving the horsies a snack!

Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday)

We have been having a great Memorial Day weekend!  On Saturday, we went out for breakfast.  Then, we tried to hit up some yard sales.  We didn't have much luck!  Maybe because it was Memorial Day weekend?  Nick and I were laughing because we were talking about how my mom and sister always find the neatest stuff for so cheap at yard sales.  When Nick and I try to go find treasures, we end up at the worst yard sales ever!  It's probably because we don't plan our attack well enough and are always very last minute about it.  Oh well!

We realized that Saturday was also Star Light's Strawberry Festival so we headed up there for lunch.  We had some great food, and of course... strawberry shortcake!

Here is a picture of Adalynn before the Strawberry Festival.  I tried out a new 'do on her... pigtails!  I thought she looked so cute!

She definitely looks older with them though.

After Adalynn squeezed in a quick nap, we went to her friend, Kaden's, 2nd birthday!  His momma had the cutest chef party planned!  The kids even got to make their own pizzas!

I don't have any pics from the party, but it was a great time!  While we were there, Adalynn's friends Kaidyn and Addison were playing dress up.  She is usually a little shy around other kiddos so she didn't join in.

I thought it was funny though because as soon as we got home, Adalynn went straight for her dress up clothes to get all decked out!

Cheese!

The dress up girl decided she didn't want her picture taken.

Saturday evening, we went to church.  It was a Memorial Day service.  Of course I couldn't have been more proud when Nick stood up as someone who has served our country.  (He served in the Air Force Reserve).  After church, we out to eat with my family!

We had a great day!

little picasso

Tonight, while Nick and I were fixing dinner, Adalynn was sitting in her high chair painting a masterpiece!  We got her some watercolor paint for her birthday.  She thought she was big stuff!

Happy girl!

Painting away!

She picked up on the concept so quickly like she had been doing it her whole life!  She would dip her brush every time she switched colors.

Notice the hat?  She is still very attached to the hat Aunt Staci got her.  She insists on wearing it everywhere, including church today!   :)

boating adventure!

Nathan and Kristin invited us out to the lake today for some fun on their new boat!

Last night, we went and got Adalynn a "princess life jacket."  Okay, so it actually has nothing to do with princesses.  We just thought we might have a better shot at getting her to wear it if we hyped it up!

She talked non-stop about going out on the boat in her princess jacket all night last night!

This morning, she woke up bright-eyed and bushy tailed!  Ready for a boating adventure!

Love this picture!!!

Addy did have a great time on the lake!  The only problem was, she was okay with wearing her life jacket on land, but not so much on the water.  We had to constantly bribe and insist that she wear it (and even that didn't always work!)

Even though our little lady did enjoy the water, we won't be able to take her back out until she is a little older, and we can reason with her better about the life jacket.  We will try to work on it some more because she really did love being out there!

Thanks Nathan and Kristin for such a fun day!!!

fun in the sun!

After Adalynn's two year checkup this morning, we headed home for some fun in the sun!  Nana and Opa gave Addy a sand and water table for her birthday!  We invited my sister and Will over to join us outside playing for the day!

I assembled it with Addy right there next to me the whole time excitedly talking about playing with bath toys.  She was so patient with her mommy.  Sweet girl!  :)

I'm a little embarrassed to say that this thing took me almost an hour to put together!  It's safe to say that putting stuff together is not my strong point!  I usually leave it up to Nick because he is much handier than me!

Addy was so excited to start playing!

The cousins had a great time playing in the water and running around the backyard!

They worked up a thirst and enjoyed a juice box break.

Cheese!

Hi Will!

We played with some bubbles too!

The playhouse was a good place for shade.  Aunt Jenna said, "Will, you be the daddy and Addy will be the mommy."  haha.

Love this pic of Will cheesin' while eating a chicken nugget!

Hi Addy!

We had a great time playing!  The kiddos were worn out afterwards!  They came in and took a nap while my sis and I had some time to hang out!

Looking forward to more fun in the sun this summer!

two year check-up

Miss Adalynn and I headed to the doctor's this morning for her two year well check.  I have been telling her the past couple of days that she was going to go to get her prepared.  After all of the trouble with the ears and those three huge shots, it's not one of her favorite places!  She would get this scared look on her face and say, "No shots!"  I really wasn't sure if she had to get shots or not, so I just told her the doctor would tell us for sure.  Luckily, we didn't need any shots today.  Shew!

She weighed in at 25.2 lbs (25 %) and was 34 in. long (30%).

They said everything looked great!  They were asking me what kinds of things she was into so I told them she likes to sing and do finger plays, read books, dance, do puzzles, play tea party, etc.  She was mimicking everything I was saying.  They were very impressed with how well she was able to communicate!

She did have to get a finger prick, but was a trooper.  Her iron levels were good which was actually a little surprising to me because the girl does not eat meat!  She likes her fruits and veggies so I guess she gets it from other things.

She got a sweet little book to bring home.

We are thankful for our healthy girl!!!

Adalynn's Birthday!

Yesterday was Adalynn's official 2nd birthday!  I say official because we've been celebrating all week!

I worked yesterday morning so Gran and Papaw kept the birthday girl for a few hours.  After I picked her up, we came home and played with her new toys.

We met up with some fam at Pizza King for the birthday girl's birthday feast.  She loves Pizza King!  They have one of her favorite foods and a choo choo brings your drinks to you!  What more could a 2 year old want?  :)

Daddy and the birthday girl!

Adalynn was refusing to look at the camera!  Silly girl!

Cute pic of Jenna and Mike

Adalynn and Abby getting some lovin' from daddy!

Will drinking out of a big boy cup.

I love this pic of my Gran and Papaw!

My mom, dad, and Mikey were there also, but I didn't get any pictures of them. :(

This next pic is courtesy of Uncle Mikey...

As you can see, the birthday girl enjoyed her pizza!  Yum!

After dinner, we came home and Adalynn opened gifts from mommy and daddy.  (We now have a serious toy situation on our hands!  More toys than places to them!)

We had a great day celebrating our girl!

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that she's 2!

We love you Adalynn!!!  You will always be our baby no matter how old you are!  :)

Adalynn's 2nd birthday party!

Adalynn is turning 2 this Wednesday!  I really can't believe my girl is going to be 2!  I guess I need to quit blinking!  :)

We celebrated her birthday yesterday.  We had it at the clubhouse at Nathan and Kristin's neighborhood.  It was just a family par-tay, but we still had about 30 people there!

Of course, the birthday girl was all dolled up.  It was a princess party!

Addy's Uncle Mikey won her that Abby Cadabby doll she is toting around in one of those claw machines.  She has not put it down since he gave it to her!  That was like a week ago!  :)

(I was sad about her poor boo-boo on her head.  It is looking better though.)

Addy and Nana!

Princess cookie cake

Princess cupcake cake

The princess actually had to sneak in a cupcake before the party officially started.  She insisted on taste testing it for her royal guests!  :)

Staci and my lovely sistah!

Adalynn snuck in a couple of gifts before the official gift time too!  Oh well, a party for a 2-year-old has to run on a 2-year-old's schedule, right?
She was oh so excited about this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse camper!

Mikey and Cameron!

Sweet Will

Nathan and Kristin

Singing "Happy Birthday!"  I loved her face the whole time.  Priceless!

Blowing out her big 2-year-old candle.

Opening gifts.  She was very interested in the cards too.  Such an appreciative little lady!  :)

So... her Aunt Staci got her this hat and sunglasses.  It's safe to say she LOVED them!  She opened these probably around 5:30 yesterday evening and was still rocking them out at bedtime.  haha

Adalynn got some great gifts!  She has had a ball playing with them last night and today.  Thank you so  much everyone!

Me and my crazy little gal!

Mee-maw and Ollie.  He had a great time playing with the balloons!

Nick's dad and Grandpa

Eating shot.  Definitely not the best pic, but I didn't get very many of our fam so I thought I would throw this one in here.

Will liked his cake!

We had a great day celebrating our little princess!  She has blessed our lives more than words can express!  Happy birthday sweet, baby girl!
