little potty

Addy turned 19 months old on the 18th. WOW... can't believe it! My baby is 19 months old. Almost not a baby anymore! She will always be MY baby though, no matter how old she is. It's funny, but sometimes I even still refer to her as "the baby." The other day, Nick had her at his mom's house, and I remember asking him, "How's the baby doing?" :)

We are definitely not pushing any type of potty training at this point. However, Adalynn has seemed to take an interest in "the potty." She loves to tell you when she "poo pooed or pee peed" in her diaper.

Sometimes, when I'm home with her alone, I will say be right back... Mommy has to go potty. She will scream "PEE PEE!" at the top of her lungs, and get this huge grin on her face.

Since she seems so interested, we put her little potty in the downstairs bathroom. She likes to open and close the lid and sit on it like a little chair. I have tried to take her pants and diaper off and sit her on it, but she wanted no part of that.
Today, she went into the bathroom and sat on her potty. Pants and diaper were on. She was sitting very quietly for a couple of minutes, and I began wondering what she was doing in there. I finally went in and asked, "What are you doing?" I didn't get a response, but quickly realized that Addy went poo poo on the potty! Not in the potty, just on it in her diaper. lol.
Hooray for me!
Just wanted to share this little story so I didn't forget!

mommy's helper

Addy has been quite the little helper around here lately.

She helps clean windows...

She helps cook in her little kitchen...

She even helps with the laundry...

By help, I mean pull clothes off of a huge heaping pile. :)

Oh, and she helps gets Daddy in on the helping action too!

We love our helping girl!

Who has time for naps?

Adalynn has decided that she has much better things to do than take naps these days. She has been a little "nap fighter." When she does finally go down, her naps are getting shorter and shorter. I guess Little Miss Addy Cakers has a full agenda that she has to get to! :)

Today, she did not want to take a nap, but was in desperate need of one. When she finally did, she wasn't asleep for more than an hour. After being awake only a few minutes, she is crashed out on the couch snoozing. I guess she decided she needs her sleep, but the bed is not the place to do it!

silly girl

Adalynn is quite the comedian. She is constantly making us laugh about something. Here are some pics from first thing yesterday morning.

First thing she wanted when we came downstairs, were her shoes on.

Notice how her shirt and pants are all pulled up? She prefers to wear her clothes like this. I will constantly pull them down and she will put them right back where they were. haha. She is always talking about and showing off her bot bot (a.k.a belly button).
After adjusting her clothes several times, I went to get some breakfast ready in the kitchen. When I walk back into the living room, this is what I see!
Little Miss Addy is chillaxin on the couch playing with her bot bot like it's nothing. Crack me up. So glad I was able to get a pic of this.

Not too long after that, she gets ahold of a toilet paper roll with just a little left on it. So, she pulls all that off and wears the empty roll around on her hand waving hi at everything.

You probably can't tell what this is, but it's the door going out to the garage which now has crayon ALL over it. Adalynn thought it was an easel I guess. :) I know a little magic eraser will get rid of it in a jiffy, but had to leave it up for Nick to see.

Never a dull moment with our gal! ;)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Today was our first snow day of the school year. I was more hoping for a 2 hour delay I guess, but I'm definitely not one to complain about not working. So... Miss Addy and I took full advantage of our day with no plans!

I actually got a lot of things accomplished today that I've been wanting to do. Don't ya love it when that happens?

I've been reading a lot of blogs about decorating lately. For a while I kind of thought to myself, that I can't throw things together like the "experts" can. Which, I still can't, but I can try... right?

I'm really proud of myself because I've been wanting to put together a picture collage for our living room to go in the place of a painting I'm not crazy about anymore.

Here it is all laid out on our guest bed for Nick to hang up! Check that off my to do list. Yes!

So... back to these decorating blogs. (You may notice that this post is random, but it's for mostly me and my fam when I turn the blog into a book one of these days. Do not feel obligated to read! lol) I've seen that these blogs do "tours of homes." I LOVE looking at all the pics, so gorgeous! So... I figured, if these people can put ornaments in a jar and call it a decoration, I can too, right?

Another thing Addy and I did today was add, switch up, and take pics of some Christmas decorations. So here are some pics if you're interested and if I haven't lost ya already! :)

This is the first year we've put a tree in our bedroom and I love it! The pic doesn't really do it justice, but it looks beautiful at night shining through our upstairs window.

Adalynn's tree complete with tea pot ornaments.

This is not Christmas-y, but I have been so wanting to add pictures to this hallway storage shelf basket thing for months and finally did today!

The stockings were hung on the stairwell with care

Downstairs tree. We started the all silver theme several years ago and it stuck.

I added candy canes today for a little color if you can see them.

Love this candy dish. My grandma made it!

Picked this up at Hobby Lobby today for Addy's bedroom. So sweet.

Merry Christmas everyone!

ugly sweaters

Nick and I got all decked out in some ugly Christmas sweaters (they are Christmas even though you can't really tell in this pic) and headed to an ugly sweater party at Brittney's Saturday night. My grandparents came to play with Addy for a couple of hours.

Here we are! The sad part is, this is the best family photo we've taken in a while with our camera. Too bad we are dressed so ridiculously! lol

It was a great party! We weren't able to stay for too long. I wanted to get home so my grandparents weren't out too late in case all that rain started freezing. Good times though!

these boots are made for walkin'

Thought this was too cute!

Nick, Adalynn, and I were sitting in the living room the other day. Nick and I were talking and Adalynn was playing. We then see Little Miss Adalynn walking up wearing mommy's boots! She puts on our shoes a lot, but we haven't seen her in something quite so complicated to put on and walk in. Hilarious!

There's the boot girl!

I said that she reminded me of Puss and Boots. :)

work of art

Adalynn has been very interested in crayons and pads of paper lately. She is so funny walking around here with a crayon in one hand and a little notebook in the other. Future journalist one day? :)

She stays pretty content sitting in her high chair coloring for a few minutes here and there.

Christmas Music

Oh, how I am a fan of Christmas music! We have had so much fun listening and dancing to Christmas music around here lately! I thought I'd share one of my fav songs. Please don't ask me how this band that is playing got its name. lol. I do think Sarah McLachlan has an absolutely beautiful voice though!

Anyway, thought I would spread some cheer if I could. I just love the lyrics to this song (It's always been a fav of mine ever since I was very little! :)

Enjoy the season!!!

It's a jammie kind of day!

Poor Little Miss Addy has had a hard time staying well over the past few weeks. I usually like to focus on the positive. Sorry if the blog has been a little too "Debbie Downer" for ya lately! lol :)

It seems that she has been fighting one thing after another. Right now, it is a nasty stomach virus. On Monday, she threw up probably 15-20 times over the course of 5 1/2 hours. We were dressed and ready to go to the ER, but held off. I was really worried about her becoming dehydrated because she was not keeping any liquid down. My mom (who I probably called 5 times during the course of all of this) assured me that she just needed to get it all out of her system. Not sure how someone so small had that much in her to get rid of. Poor baby. :(

I stayed home from work Tuesday and took her to the doctor in the morning. While there, she said that her hydration was decent at the time, but if we did not see another wet diaper within the next few hours, it was time for IV fluids. Luckily, we only had one vomiting episode yesterday, and she did start drinking water.

She perked up after her bath last night and started playing more and more.

It has been nice snuggling with her on the couch with blankies the past couple of days. This doesn't happen a whole lot when she's feeling up to par. Someone must have decided she likes blankies during this whole thing (she usually kicks them off and wants nothing to do with them).

Here's our gal. I guess she thinks blankies go on your head. :)

So silly. :)

Snoozing. zzzzz

After working this morning, I picked Addy up from my Grandma's. She had a good day (no getting sick!), but was so ready for her nap. She slept some in bed and then woke up. A few minutes later... here she is zonked out next to me on the couch.

Same jammies from the night before. I know I love me some jammies... especially when I'm not feeling well.

Here are our Christmas pictures! These are all the ones we took. Not all of them are keepers, but I thought some turned out pretty darn cute!

taming the wild beast

Adalynn's hair definitely takes after mine! It's always frizzy, dry, and curly/wavy. Luckily, she will always be cute no matter what her hair looks like! :)

This evening, we went and got Christmas pictures taken. JC Penney did them, and we were very pleased! They turned out great! Plus, we got Christmas cards and a bunch of sheets for a very reasonable price.

Before the pictures, I was faced with the task of "taming the wild beast" aka... Adalynn's hair.

Here are some before pics.

The back.

:)

Bows are useless, she gets them out in half a second. It did look cute though after a bath and "deep conditioning treatment" as we call it around here! She was a VERY good girl and did a great job modeling for the camera!

I will share our Christmas pictures as soon as I get them! :)

Thanksgiving Break

The day after Thanksgiving, we went to Nick's mom and dad's for dinner. We were sooo excited because his cousin, Amelia and her boyfriend, Ryan were in town. They live in Memphis. We had a great night visiting.

I have been switching back and forth between 2 memory cards so I think I have misplaced some pics somewhere. I don't know how I didn't get any pictures of Amelia, Adalynn, and Ryan because they were having a ball all night. I will be stealing some off her Facebook soon! Luckily, we will be seeing them again at Christmas (along with her mom, dad, and brother, Ben! Yay!)

I did get some pictures of Adalynn and Oliver at least!

Ollie looking JUST like his daddy here!
Okay... so this is probably one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Addy and Oliver LOVE each other! They are always trying to give each other kisses!

Awwww!!!!! I swear, they do it on their own! One of these days, I guess we'll have to
tell them they're cousins! :)

Thanksgiving

I'm a little late on this, but we had a great Thanksgiving and hope you did too!

We kicked off our Thanksgiving by watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in the morning and checking out the Black Friday ads.

I love this pic of Addy and daddy in their jammies checking out the bargains! Addy especially loved the Toys R Us ad! :)

Silly girl!

Then, we headed over to Nick's Aunt Kim's for lunch.

Little Miss Addy socializing.

Nick's cousin, Bailey and his Aunt Lesley. Bailey was the flower girl in our wedding! Can't believe how big she is getting!
Sweet Oliver playing with his new tractor.

Something caught Addy and Ollie's attention.

Mommy and Addy Cakers.
After lunch, we headed over to my parents' house to spend Thanksgiving with my whole fam! I have no idea how we managed to spend over 4 hours there and not snap one single pic, but we did! :( At any rate, we had a great time eating and playing games. There is never a dull moment when you get the whole Whitis gang together!
Nick and I feel truly blessed for our wonderful families! We have so much to be thankful for!
